The Story of Hydroponics

Hydroponics is an innovative technology used to grow plants using water. The journey of commercial hydroponics started in the 1940s. A combination of a semi controlled environment, soilless farming and precision farming, we were able to produce vegetables and fruits 8 times more than conventional farming in the same area. Today, NASA and ROSCOSMOS are producing vegetables in the space station using this innovative technology.

A combination of controlled environment agriculture and hydroponics is the future of farming. There are several types of hydroponics systems. generally, it is categorized into substrate-based hydroponics and Non-substrate based hydroponics. In substrate based hydroponics we use a substrate such as cocopeat, perlite or rock wool and nutrients mixed with water are either partially recirculated or not recirculated at all. example: Dutch bucket system, drip hydroponics. In non-substrate based hydroponics, water is completely recirculated and the medium used to support the root system is an inert material such as LECA stone, Rockwool or gravel.

Over the years these basic systems evolved into commercially viable models. FarmsMe offers most of these systems with climate controlled greenhouses. We can also set these systems in a confined space or backyard for small scale operations too. We provide technical and skilled labor assistance to our customers, so that these techno centric systems run smoothly to continuously give output seamlessly.
